This painting is done in transparent watercolour which is the perfect medium for this subject. The morning mist cloaks the landscape but has a transparency that is almost hypnotic. The viewer travels an eerie path down the river, not quite knowing what to expect but curiously drawn. The subject is beautiful, but cold.
