This close-up still life of a holly bush on an icy, wintry morning conjures visions of a holiday theme. Although it can depict any wintry morning, one obviously thinks of the Christmas season. The shadowy, abstracted background is dark and provides a dramatic contrast to the rich redness of the berries. A touch of white on the red suggests ice and snow in simple terms.
